A story that touched the heart of my soccer-mom colleague, and made her stop and think about the accessibility of the sport to economically challenged families. Sierra is an inner city girl in a home she shares with her auntie, and she loves to play soccer. Except that the games take place in the suburbs where no one is there to watch her play or cheer for her. Her auntie usually can't come to her games because of work. There comes an opportunity for Sierra to reach out to the coach and arrange for a change of venue so that for at least one game, Sierra can have her friends and neighbors attend a game and cheer her on, bringing her neighborhood community together.
