Most young people are motivated to act when the world's problems touch their hearts. So it was with Olivia Bouler, upon learning about the Gulf of Mexico oil spill in 2010 from her grandparents in Alabama. Olivia draws pictures of birds, and she proposed to the Audubon Society to donate the sale of her bird pictures to the fund to help clean the gulf. This picture book chronicles her efforts, after first treating us to her bird drawings, complete with facts of various bird species and descriptions of their habitats. The book resembles a journal, and includes letters and pictures of Olivia's experiences touring and speaking about her Save the Gulf campaign. An inspiring story of how one girls efforts can make a real difference, and how others can participate and contribute to conservation causes.
