Really lovely picture book that evokes a perfect winter day when a young girl and her father cross-country ski through a snow covered forest. While they ski, they observe and discuss the evidence of all the creatures that live over and under the snow, with wondrous illustrations by Christopher Silas Neal. The author's note goes into more detail about the winter habitat for animals in winter. There is a list of all the animals featured in the book with descriptions and interesting facts, and resources for further reading.
