A beautiful tactile cover makes this book a striking stand out. The color concept is taken to a new level with variations in the tones of basic colors yellow, orange, red, pink, purple, blue, green, brown, white, gray and black. Each color variation has a Pantone number and distinguishing name. The names relate to items children can relate to, such as Pretzel Brown, Grasshopper Green or Pumpkin Orange, which offers opportunity for discussion. My only quibble is that some color variations for yellow and orange are barely distinguishable. The back endpaper has illustrations of common objects associated with these colors. A unique means to offer a broad range of color tones to young children to encourage seeing more similarities and differences in their world.
