Based upon a true story. It's possible there will be more included in the book, as I read it from an advance copy. I found it to be slightly confusing, due to the lack of more biographical data about the real man. Louis de Rougemont was a "storyteller" unparalleled, a man who invented anthropological exploits that were found out to be gained from library research. Disgraced, he became the The Greatest Liar on Earth and died poor [Wikipedia]. I found it necessary to go to Wikipedia to read the story for clarity.
